On August 17, 1996, the twinship (partnership) ceremony between the community of Pedoulas and Paiania in Athens took place in the "Eurydice and Loukas Ellinas" event hall at Pedoulas Gymnasium. The twinship was initiated by Andreas Ellinas in collaboration with the Community Council of Pedoulas and the Association of Pedoulas Expatriates. The expenses for the ceremony, hospitality, and guided tours in Cyprus were covered by the great benefactor of the community, Andreas Ellinas.

The event concluded with the unveiling of a commemorative marble plaque dedicated to the twinship of the two communities. This plaque still adorns the main road of the community of Pedoulas (Filoxenias Street) and is placed on a stone-built pedestal near the monument with the statue of Ethnarch Makarios III.
