The Folklore Museum of Pedoulas is located in the village center, near the Church of the Transfiguration of the Holy Cross, offering a unique insight into the community's social and economic development.
The museum is housed in a restored building that once accommodated various traditional professions, including a tailor’s shop, blacksmith, butcher shop, coffeehouse, and bakery. The museum exhibits tools and objects used in these trades, as well as illustrations and photographs depicting daily life in the past.
Among the most interesting exhibits are a zivania distillation cauldron, winemaking equipment, tanning tools (the process of treating hides to produce leather), and various everyday items used by artisans such as chair-makers, shoemakers, butchers, and barbers. The museum also features the interior of a traditional Cypriot home, complete with authentic furniture, household utensils, and local costumes.
The idea for the museum originated from Pedoulas expatriates and was supported by the Pedoulas Community Council, with financial backing from shipowner Vassos Hadjioannou. The museum was inaugurated in 2005 with the participation of Greece’s Minister of Cultural Development, Dimitris Avramopoulos, and Cyprus’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, George Lillikas.
Admission to the museum is free, and visitors can also find a souvenir shop with memorabilia.
